When you turn on the faucet, do you know where that water is coming from? Was it pulled from an aquifer deep below the earth’s surface? Did it come from a clear mountain lake? Was it treated by municipal treatment plant or pulled from a well near your home?
How did it get to you? Are the pipes it traveled in old or new? Are they made with plastic, iron or lead?
How does it taste? How does it look?
Is your water the same quality as your neighbors? Regardless of income, race or zip code?
Most Americans are very privileged to drink some of the cleanest, safest water in the world. Something, I’d argue most Americans don’t give a second thought to.
If you’ve stuck with me this far, I’m willing to bet you are interested in knowing more about your water and what you can do to ensure it safe for you, your family and your neighbors. Together let’s learn and together let’s advocate for investment, action and protection of our clean waters.
